Struggle with Pride

I just have to testify about this...This morning I was watching James Robison, & Beth Moore started teaching on his show for Wednesdays. Her teaching today was on Fighting a Good Fight, and it was exactly what I needed to hear. She said that much of our quarreling comes from our pride.God honors the humble. 1Peter 5:5-7 Where is the pride in your fight, (she said) what is it that is making you fight this fight. Take the pride out and see what is left, is it then worth fighting for. Just because they have the appearance of winning... it is not the one that is the muddiest that wins, so what if he or she thinks she has one, you are a victor when you humble yourself before God.If you do 1Peter 5:5-7. the right thing and bow down, not to the person, but to God. Gods mighty arm will hit whoever is standing arrogantly before Him, (if it is me standing proudly than I will be struck). When it's just pride, bow down the knee and let God be God.Fight to bend our knees. God sometimes tells us, "you can either bend your knee or I can break your legs" sometimes God says,"I want you down on this." God is faithful to discipline his own.Nothing is more prideful than religious pride. (An awesome analogy she used was in John 18:10.)Simon Peter was not trying to cut off only the ear, he was trying to kill him. the analogy is, Eph. 6 says the sword of the spirit is our sword, it was meant to fight battles with powers and principalities to edify the church and build up his people. But when we fight with people who we believe are carnal, instead of loving them we pull out our sword and slice off the ear of the hearer until they want nothing to do with it.Are we the biggest problem that people have in coming to Christ, what if they are afraid to be like us. Sometimes the word is better stood upon than used as a weapon against another person. We want God for them, for us, for our relationships. We should not use God against them, our calling is to love even our enemies, if God is against them he will take care of them. 2Tim4:7 We are going to have to lay down our desire for someone else to know that we won.He is not going to fight for us if we are fighting for ourselves. When we keep the faith, we will win the fight. Look at every conflict your in and the state it has your heart in... search for the unbelief, somewhere the enemy is tempting us to be in unbelief. if that situation is worth fighting for... Go to Gods word and ask him to equip you with several scriptures, and hold to them day in and day out using Gods word and Prayer to fight. There's nothing wrong with getting mad as long as we are mad at the right enemy. Do not take the sword and slice someones ear off in the human realm, you take it to the real enemy. Sometimes you do this and you don't feel it right away, but you need to keep on reading and praying and the Lord will help you. Fight with faith because you have a God that is a warrior, The Lord is a warrior. Hold up that shield of faith, and wield the sword of the spirit, God is with us!What an awesome teaching!Recently I had someone attack me with a vicious note, I am pretty well sure of who it was, and it hurt me so badly. The words in the note echoed cruel words said to me in my youth. It tore at my spirit, my faith, and my determination. I went to bed that night indulging my heart in things that could be done in revenge, so that they would see that I would win.Pride... so shameful. At last I thought I had finally put all those thoughts about revenge behind me when a thought occurred to me, I did not know the name of my attacker and I could easily find out the name by doing a property search.... bua ha ha, my evil plan was in motion... sure enough I found the name, and the phone number, what to do next...as thoughts were streaming through my mind, a song came over my internet radio.. it said "Gods gettin worried bout my evil ways"... Woah! That put the breaks on right there. I know God speaks to us through His word, but if that wasn't God, trying to spare me some grief, well, you tell me! Right! So, we recently started doing family devotions this last week, and last night was David and Goliath. Talk about a Good fight of Faith. I know the Lord in encouraging me to do the right thing. I have been reading the beginning of Psalms which for the most part is about our enemies, and though it seems David prayed a lot for the destruction of his enemies, it is helpful to me. I will pray for this person. I will forgive this person, and do my best to follow after peace with all men. Praise the Lord!
